What I do with your information.

Short version: this site collects an email address when you ask for something, and uses it to send you that thing. Nothing is sold, rented or traded. The longer version is below.

Who runs this site

Pathbreaker Parenting is the author and speaking site of Seth Marlowe, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Questions about anything on this page go to seth@pathbreakerparenting.com.

What the forms collect

There are two kinds of form on this site, and neither asks for more than it needs.

  • The free chapters form. Your email address, plus a hidden note recording which page you submitted from. That form is processed by Netlify, which also hosts the site.
  • The contact and speaking inquiry forms. Your name, email address, organization if you give one, and whatever you write in the message. Those are processed by Formspree, which forwards them to my inbox.

Like nearly every website, the host records standard server information when a page is requested, including IP address, browser type and the page requested. I do not use that information to build a profile of you.

What I use it for

  • To send you the thing you asked for, such as the first four chapters of the book.
  • To reply to you when you write to me.
  • To send occasional updates about the book, new writing and speaking dates. Every one of those has an unsubscribe link, and using it is the end of it.

What I never do

I do not sell, rent, trade or share your email address or your message with anyone for their own marketing. There are no advertising trackers on this site, no analytics scripts, no retargeting pixels and no third-party cookies. Giving me your email does not put you on anyone else's list.

Links that leave this site

Some links here go elsewhere: the newsletter lives on Substack, the book is sold on Amazon, and there are links to LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. Once you follow one of those, that company's privacy policy governs what happens next, not this one. If you subscribe to the newsletter on Substack, Substack holds that subscription, not this site.

How long anything is kept

Form submissions are kept as long as they are useful for the purpose you sent them for, and are deleted on request. Ask and it is done.

Your choices

You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask for a copy of it, or ask me to delete it. Write to seth@pathbreakerparenting.com and I will take care of it. You do not need to give a reason, and nothing bad happens to you for asking.

Children

This site is written for parents and other adults, not for children. It is not directed at anyone under 13 and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted a form here, write to me and I will delete it.

Changes to this page

If what this site collects ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. There is no version where the change is quiet.
